If you're thinking about perennials in your garden, these might be worth your time. Artichokes are the big producers here, but results may vary in your zone.

  1. I just read a tip about putting out starts when cutworms are present. ( I realize with chickens it's not likely that you have this problem. ) But it was a good tip so I wanted to share:
    Use toilet paper rolls or cut down paper towel rolls as collars when planting.
